JMCSS student, actor and visual artist is building a creative portfolio that spans the stage, the gallery and the Jackson community
JACKSON, Tenn. — Omarion Harris is developing his craft across two very different settings: the stage and the canvas.
A student in the Jackson-Madison County School System, Harris has established himself as a young visual artist and performer. His work has already received recognition in Jackson. In 2022, he was named a first-place winner in the City of Jackson’s K–8 Jackson Arts Council Earth Day Mayor’s Masterpiece competition.
His artistic work can now be seen at The Ned, where Harris currently has pieces on display and available for purchase.
For Harris, the gallery represents another opportunity to put his work in front of an audience. His creative experience also includes performance, with roles and appearances connected to productions including The Color Purple, Cinderella, in which he portrayed Lionel, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame at The Ned. His interests include acting, singing, musical theatre and fine-art painting.
That range has given Harris opportunities to develop as both a performer and a visual artist while continuing his education in the Jackson-Madison County School System.
From the Stage to the Gallery
Harris’s artwork at The Ned offers the public an opportunity to see another side of his creative work. The pieces are available for purchase, giving local residents, businesses and visitors an opportunity to support an emerging artist by collecting his work.

The progression from student competition to a gallery setting is part of Harris’s growing body of work. His current exhibition allows the community to experience his art outside of a school setting and provides a place where his work can reach new audiences.

Harris Joins the 15th Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament
Harris will also contribute his artwork to the silent auction at the Legacy Chamber of West Tennessee’s 15th Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament.
The contribution brings his artwork into an event that brings together businesses, community members, sponsors and guests from across West Tennessee. It also gives attendees another opportunity to discover the work of a young artist from the Jackson community.
The Legacy Chamber’s decision to highlight Harris reflects the range of talent present in the community and within the Jackson-Madison County School System. His participation gives the tournament a connection to local arts and youth talent while allowing his work to reach an audience beyond the gallery.
For tournament attendees, the silent auction will provide an opportunity to view and bid on items contributed by supporters of the event, including Harris’s artwork.
Supporting Young Talent
Opportunities for young artists often begin with visibility. Exhibiting work, performing before an audience and having people take an interest in what a young person creates are all part of the process of developing a creative career.
Harris is gaining those experiences while still a student.
His work at The Ned gives the public a chance to support him directly through the purchase of his artwork. His contribution to the Legacy Chamber’s silent auction provides another opportunity for his work to be seen by business and community leaders attending the tournament.
Both settings place his work in front of people who may not have encountered it before.
