JACKSON, TN —
One of Jackson’s most recognizable names in professional sports is coming home for another round.

Ed “Too Tall” Jones will return as the Celebrity Headliner for the Legacy Chamber of West Tennessee’s 15th Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament, presented by Jackson Energy Authority. Talk N West TN will serve as the tournament’s Celebrity Team Sponsor.

Jones, a Jackson native and former Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman, has been a recurring participant in the Chamber’s celebrity golf tournament. His connection to the event has remained consistent over the years, including his appearance at the 2024 tournament, where he spoke about returning to his hometown and supporting the cause behind the event.

A Hometown Name With a National Resume

Before his name became synonymous with the Dallas Cowboys, Jones was a student-athlete in Jackson.

He graduated from Jackson Central-Merry High School before attending Tennessee State University. The Cowboys selected him first overall in the 1974 NFL Draft, beginning a 15-season career in Dallas that included three Pro Bowl selections and a Super Bowl XII championship. His professional career made him one of the most recognizable defensive players of his era, but his ties to West Tennessee have remained strong.

Jones continues to maintain a connection to Jackson and has returned regularly for community events and programs. His participation in the Chamber’s tournament has become part of the event’s history, giving local golfers and businesses an opportunity to spend time with an athlete whose career began in their own community.

The 15th Annual Tournament

This year’s tournament marks the 15th annual Celebrity Golf Tournament, bringing the event to an important milestone for the Legacy Chamber.

The tournament has historically served as both a community fundraiser and a gathering place for business leaders. Previous editions have brought together local professionals, corporate partners, entrepreneurs, community leaders and celebrity athletes, with the event raising support for the Chamber’s Follow Me Into Business program.

The format gives businesses an opportunity to bring employees, clients and partners together away from the office while supporting a program with a direct connection to young people in the community.

The Cause Behind the Tournament

Proceeds from the 15th Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament will benefit Follow Me Into Business, the Legacy Chamber’s youth development initiative.

The program has been part of the Chamber’s work for years, providing young people with exposure to business, leadership and workplace skills. Past program activities have included job-training workshops, internships, summer employment and opportunities to learn directly from business and community leaders.

That history is an important part of what participants are supporting when they register for the tournament.

The golf course is where the event takes place. The investment reaches beyond it.

Local Support for the 15th Annual

The 15th Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament is presented by Jackson Energy Authority, the event’s Title Sponsor. Talk N West TN is serving as the Celebrity Team Sponsor, sponsoring Ed “Too Tall” Jones and his celebrity team for this year’s tournament. Their support adds to the local business participation surrounding an event that has become a longtime gathering for golfers, business leaders and community partners across West Tennessee.

Teams and Tickets Close August 28

The 15th Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament is approaching, and team sponsorships and tickets are available through August 28, 2026.

For businesses, a tournament team offers an opportunity to bring clients, colleagues or business partners together for a day of golf and networking. For individual supporters, tickets provide access to an event built around one of Jackson’s best-known sports figures and a program serving young people in the community.

Jones’ return gives the 15th annual tournament a familiar face, but the reason to participate extends beyond the celebrity appearance. The event brings together people who have a stake in the growth of Jackson and West Tennessee and directs the proceeds toward Follow Me Into Business.
